COVID 19 – Information for Parents

04/10/2020

Dear Parents/Carers,

Our School is now open and we are proud to say that it has been operating smoothly and efficiently for the last 3 weeks. We are determined to stay open and to continue to operate face to face lessons for our Students but our main priority is the safety and well-being of
all the children in our care and of our staff members. With this in mind, and in order to achieve this goal, we are politely asking for your support in following the guidance we have listed below. It is imperative that every family takes responsibility to adhere to these rules so that our children remain safe and well.

WHAT IS EXPECTED FROM YOU TO DO AS A FAMILY?

  1. Only one parent per family for dropping off and collecting children.
  2. Only use specific entrances for arrival at school and collection of your children (as below)
  3. Gate entrances will be opening 10 minutes before the start of the lesson for children to enter.
  4. All gates will be locked at 10:00am and 1:30pm respectively and NO child will be allowed in the school after this time. (This is based on our COVID-19 school risk assessment and safety plan since all year groups are in bubbles)
  5. Gates will be open again at 1.00pm and 4.30 respectively. Please be on time for pick up as the classrooms need to be clean for the afternoon lessons.
  6. Please do not congregate at the front of school prior to the start and finish of the school day/evening.
  7. Children, parents, carers and visitors are NOT to enter the school if they display any symptoms of coronavirus.
  8. Parents, carers (except students and staff) are NOT allowed to enter the school or the community hall building at any time.
  9. Please read the ALLERGY Children are not allowed nuts for lunch.  There are student/s in our school who have allergies to nuts and any exposure to these items, even a tiny amount, could be potentially very serious and life threatening for these children. https://greekschoolofbristol.org.uk/letter-for-allergies/

We thank everyone for being part of this massive collective effort where the actions of every individual are helping to keep our school safe and open. Continue to use the school email address [email protected] for your communication.

Kind regards

Head Teacher and the School Committee

We would like to inform you that our school will be reopening for all students from Monday 14th September 2020. (Saturday 12th September will be INSET day)

We have been preparing our school to safely welcome back our students and staff.

This has involved a comprehensive risk assessment and Safety plan process to ensure risks continue to be effectively managed.

Consideration has been given to balancing the minimisation of risks from Covid-19 with providing a full educational experience for children and young people, in line with Government guidance.

Please make sure you read all attachments carefully and familiarise yourself with the new measures as we all have a role to play to keep our children and staff safe.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR PARENTS

Dear parents / carers,

We would like to inform/reassure you all that as a committee we are working/considering all possible scenarios to reopen our school in September having our children’s safety, well-being and educational needs as utmost priority.

Until we have all the information/guidance available to us from the British Government British Government and KEA (Cyprus Educational Mission) we can’t make firm decisions and will not do anything in haste.

We ask that you all bear with us in these challenging times and be reassured that as soon as we have the appropriate information/guidance, we will inform you as to how we will proceed.

As for our on-line lessons we have sent an email out and also posted on the school group on the 7th April 2020 stating that if parents wanted their children to take part it fell on them to register them to do so.

Thank you all for your understanding,

SCHOOL CLOSURE

Dear parents and carers,
In line with the Archdioceses announcement to postpone the operation of all Parish Schools, we have made a decision to close our school until Tuesday 21st April. This has also been in consultation with KEA.

We have also been made aware that there were 2 potential incidents at a school, where one of our teachers works. It has not been confirmed that it is coronavirus, but we feel it is our duty to let you know.

As a precaution, and again in line with general guidance for avoiding any potential spread in gatherings, we have decided to deep clean the school when it is closed.
Thank you all for your cooperation. These are unprecedented times and we are all trying for the best of our children, our School and our Community.

Our best wishes for a nice Easter and see you all soon.
School committee

Coronavirus update,

As you will be aware, the situation relating to the COVID-19 virus, otherwise known as Coronavirus, is changing on a daily basis, all the time and new information is being issued by the government frequently. The most up-to-date information can be found by following this link: www.gov.uk/coronavirus

As a school, we will continue to monitor the situation closely, following all government advice as appropriate.

We already have robust systems in place with regard to good personal hygiene, which includes giving children regular opportunities throughout the day to wash their hands. We are reminding children how to prevent spreading germs.

I appreciate there is growing concern as cases become more frequent in the UK and we will notify you immediately of any change to our provision, should this be required. If you wish to discuss a specific issue regarding this, please contact me, via the school website contact form https://greekschoolofbristol.org.uk/contact/.
